Public Health Thesis
Overview
For my graduate thesis in public health administration and policy, I researched, wrote, produced, and fully animated an advocacy video urging state legislators to act on an 85% federal match for state investment in mobile crisis response teams. Three months of research into policy and communications literature shaped the target policy and the strategy: the literature showed legislator communication works best when it pairs a specific story with data on scale or benefit, which became the video's throughline. I wrote the script and storyboard and outlined a four-month solo production timeline: composing an original piano score, recording and processing my own narration, designing, texturing, rigging, and animating every character and environment in Blender, then editing, color grading, and adding 100+ sound effects before presenting it as my thesis. Afterward, I identified state house and senate members across 10 states on mental-health-related committees and emailed each one the video along with model legislation to act on the funding.
